Task 1: You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You got an email from the manager of a center. Read this part of his email below.

Thank you for your phone call yesterday. I was attending an education exhibition when you rang, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to speak to you for long. From what you said, I understand you are not satisfied with one of the courses in our department and would like to change to a different course. Could you please give me more information about the course you are studying now, please explain why you are not satisfied with the course. What course would you like to change to?

Phân tích đề:

• Xác định dạng đề: Đối tượng nhận thư là một người lạ nên chúng ta xác định được đây là dạng thư trang trọng (Formal letter).

Ngay sau khi xác định dạng thư, các bạn nên viết luôn các phần Greeting, Opening và Ending theo cấu trúc của một lá thư mà Ms.Jess đã dạy nhé!

• Xác định chủ đề: Education & Course Satisfaction (Giáo dục và sự hài lòng với khoá học). Yêu cầu chính của bài là giải thích lí do không hài lòng và cung cấp thông tin khóa học muốn đổi.

Information about the course you are studying now:

• The Business English course

• Is (scheduled) on Tuesdays and Fridays

Why you are not satisfied with the course:

• A lack of practical exercises, discussion sections, and real-world situations (We do not have ….) (Teacher does not provide/suggest books)

• Timetable changing constantly without notifying learners → sometimes could not attend the class as/ because  it coincided with my personal plans

• Teachers are not enthusiastic and dedicated, and tend to ignore students’ questions and concerns about the lessons → incomprehension of the knowledge

What course would you like to change to: a communication course

• Aligns with the major that I study at school to speak English more naturally and authentically

• A course taught by devoted and supportive teachers who are willing to listen to and answer the students’ questions 

• Class schedule to be fixed and consistent throughout the entire course
